Bill Feland, owner and president, started Preferred Roofing, Inc., in 1993, as a residential and light commercial roofing company. After obtaining his bachelor's degree in Business Management from Southern Nazarene University, he worked as a property claims adjuster and supervisor for six years, continuing to roof part time. Over the past 25 years, he has continued to increase his knowledge of the roofing industry, becoming involved with the National Roofing Contractor's Association, the Midwest Roofing Contractor's Association, and Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA).

Preferred Roofing is one of only a few accredited contractors by the SPFA, the main governing body of the foam industry. He is a designated Master Contractor with Conklin Company and a designated Q1 contractor with BASF Corporation.
